1. Complete a Zoning & Construction Permit Application and submit it to the Borough Office.  Please attach all supporting documents with the application such as site plans, drawings and photos that may be required. Incomplete applications cannot be processed.
  2. The Zoning Officer will review the application and check for compliance with the Borough’s Zoning Ordinance. The Zoning Officer issues the Zoning Permit for an approved application. A permit fee is required for the permit based on a fee schedule. If the project requires only a Zoning Permit, the Permit could be issued in a few days, depending on staff workload.
  3. Depending on the type of proposed project, further review may be required by the Borough’s third party inspection agency, Commonwealth Code Inspection Service. Compliance with the regulations of the statewide Uniform Construction Code are required.  Commonwealth Code Inspection Services, Inc. will review the application and approve or deny the Construction permit. Commonwealth Code Inspection Services, Inc., will invoice the applicant for any plan review or inspection fees necessary for the construction project. All fees are collected by the Borough.
  4. The Uniform Construction Code allows 15 business days for a residential construction review and 30 days for a commercial construction review.  Normally it only takes 10 business days to process these permits depending on the workload.
  5. It is the responsibility of the applicant to contact Commonwealth Code Inspection Services, Inc. to schedule inspections during construction. Following final inspection approval, Commonwealth Code Inspection Services, Inc. will notify the Borough’s Building Code Official of project completion.
  6. The Building Code Official issues the Certificate of Occupancy when all inspections are complete.
