Mount Joy Borough Authority Construction Laborer Position

The Mount Joy Borough Authority (an Equal Opportunity Employer) is seeking applicants for the position of Construction Laborer. Qualifications may include prior experience in the construction field pertaining to the installation of waterlines, sewer lines or repairing of water or sewer lines, previous mechanical or technical skills relating to a field that can be essential to a water or wastewater facility. The ability to lift over 50 pounds, demonstrate physical ability to withstand walking for long periods of time, bending, reaching and standing. A valid PA motor vehicle license is required and a PA Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), class B with Air Brakes & Tanker Endorsement or ability to obtain CDL within 9 months of employment.

This full-time position will involve, but not limited to the repair of the distribution and collection system lines, respond to calls when needed, preparation of equipment for projects, hand digging to find problem sections of pipe, fixing of pipe and backfilling of excavated areas. Check water plant booster station and sewer pumping stations, record data and replace recording charts and report issues with any stations to proper supervisors. Perform routine service to authority vehicles and equipment. Meter reading and various duties related to the authority. The ability to learn the water or wastewater plant operations, this position also requires the ability to work rotating weekend shifts and be able to be on-site within ½ hour for emergency on-call work and overtime as needed. Successful candidate must pass complete background investigation including reference, employment, criminal and driving. A pre-employment Medical examination and Drug & Alcohol examination will be required prior to offer of employment.
